OUTLINING INTRACACIES

As a subsequent note to elaborate the conceptualization of “THE DIGITAL FABRIC.” I am describing the infographic illustrations, positioning, and my approach to the conferred POV.

Why did I name it Digital Fabric?……and why now?

I have related the fundamental concept of weaving piece of fabric that is synchronized, sequenced, and successive. Not going too deep into the clinical process of the textile industry, I am focusing on the method and outcome of various yarn that is spun into one resilient, appealing, and useful fabric. The way fabric is made with perfect overlapping and twining of multiple strands of different colors to form a design, the business & technology landscape resembles and displays the supposition.

This is an appropriate time for enterprises to start acquiring the competencies and capabilities to equip for expanding customer/market expectations. These five layers will be the requirements of every business strategy, business model, and business platform to drive agility and possibility index.

The Argumentation

The overlapping of products circle over people and technology is for the characteristic that makes the underlying purpose of the product.

Processes execution was dependent on resources (people) to execute, but in due course, these processes have digitized and have been incorporated into the system. Example: CRM (ITSM): in good old days, many process attributes were manual activities. Today we see ITSM ticket management systems have translated these processes into directed process flows, linking automatically to the adjacent action/process/systems eliminating additional human action and effort. For this very reason, I have illustrated the process circle touching the circumference of people and technology and not overlapping.

The Digital Fabric diagram converted into a 3-dimensional format to showcase the volume and placement of every constituent when arranged in a series. 

This presentation gives a good insight into how every work design constituent is embedded in one another and claim a part of the consequent. When viewed in a cumulative sense, you will realize that every component is part of the consecutive large bucket, which explains the interrelation and complementing nature of each one.

Post alignment, I am listing the following characteristics for every constituent of Digital fabric. These are coherent in nature for the respective success. These are the enablers for every layer to align and generate corresponding results and meet objectives.

People component lies at the core but passes through all other constituents as people are at the governing, controlling, directing, and executing epicenter of the entire Enterprise design framework. Without people, all the other components cannot function or even exist.

Even if one layer is omitted from this concept, the entire approach falls apart or changes the equation and adds limitations. Hence, the proposition is to embrace/establish all five layers in due course if not already have.

In the next release, I will pick one layer and describe the inclusions, characteristics, aspects, and Focus of this Digital Fabric.
